Ip Man 3 Coming Up

Posted January 30, 2014 06:54 PM by

Martial arts superstar Donnie Yen is set to return as the iconic Ip Man. According to various reports coming out of Hong Kong, the third film about Bruce Lee's mentor is expected to begin shooting next year.

According to producer Raymond Wong Ip Man 3 was originally set to be filmed between June and September 2013, but various scheduling conflicts, including one with Yen, temporarily collapsed the project.

The producers of Ip Man 3 have already confirmed that the film will have a theatrical 3D release.

Note: Wilson Yip's Ip Man (2008) and Ip Man 2 (2010) are already available on Blu-ray. You can see our listings and reviews of the U.S. releases here and here.

I love Ip Man 1 & 2! The other 2 spinoffs just aren't the same without Donnie Yen!

Nice! I just bought both Ip Man and loved them. Althought I found the Boxing part ridiculous in Ip Man 2.

IP man 2 took a slight dive, but I still loved it nonetheless. Not placing high hopes with the potential third installment, but it is nice just to have another.

I dont get it. So what the heck is IP MAN final fight if its not really a final fight?? I am all for Donnie Yen, no doubt about that and will indeed get IP Man 3. But how does this fit into that timeline. As long as I don't have to watch IP Man Final Fight, then perfect!

The legend is borne:ip man and ip man:the final fight have nothing to do with the Donnie yen ip man films. There not in the same film universe. Completely different productions. Obviously though, based on packaging and font, they try to trick people into thinking they are to sell their films.

There are 2 separate Ip Man series. The Donnie Yen Ip Man movies are unrelated to the non-Donnie Yen Ip Man movies. It's like when there's rival Robin Hood or Sherlock Holmes productions out at the same time.

I'm happy for this but sad at the same time....happy that the next Ip Man has Donnie and that it finishes off a trilogy...but sad that the HK film industry has to juice to death the story/character of Ip Man! Seriously, within 7 years, they already cranked out 5 movies based on Ip Man...i heard that there's even a tv series in the works. Come on people, come up with something else if you want your film industry to thrive and not just be known for kung fu films! They are more then capable, heck, The Departed was originally a Hong Kong film before Scorcese adapted it for Hollywood.
