Cristiano Ronaldo's explosive thoughts on Manchester United's problems caused quite a stir in 2022.

But this season the issues at Old Trafford have been there for everyone to see, with the leaky roof recently flooding parts of the stadium, much to the embarrassment of Red Devils fans.

Ronaldo freed his opinions on the club's outdated facilities in a fiery interview with Piers Morgan while also hitting out at the Glazers and Erik ten Hag, where he admitted to not having respect for the United boss just weeks before his contract was terminated by mutual agreement.

It was Ronaldo's claims on the club's infrastructure that took the cake in the viral interview as he said nothing had changed or improved in the 12 years he was away from Manchester after initially leaving in 2009 to complete a then-world record transfer to Real Madrid.

The Portugal captain told Morgan: "Nothing changed since I left, the pool, the jacuzzi, even the gym, even some technology. Even the chefs who I appreciate, lovely people. I thought I would see new technology, infrastructure. I saw things I saw when I was 20!"

Ronaldo's comments have since been brought to life several times, including during their 1-0 defeat by Arsenal last week, when videos of the huge leaks at Old Trafford went viral.

In what wasn't the first instance of heavy leaking in the roof of the once great stadium, the club confirmed that 1.6 inches of rain had come down in the two hours after the final whistle. Restoring Old Trafford to its former glory is high on the to-do list for Sir Jim Ratcliffe who in February stated his preference would be to rebuild the legendary ground.

"In an ideal world, I think it’s a no-brainer, a stadium of the north, which would be a world-class stadium where England could play and you could have the FA Cup final and it’s not all centred around the south of England," the Brit billionaire said.

"I think the refurb would take longer than the new one because it’s more complicated because obviously you’re building and you have to build over a main railway line which is quite complicated and expensive."
