'Hamas must have no role in ruling Gaza': Macron calls for Gaza ceasefire during Egypt visit

French President Emmanuel Macron called on Monday (April 7) for "an immediate return to the ceasefire" in Gaza, and the release of all hostages still held by Hamas. Macron was speaking alongside Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi at a press conference during a visit to the country. Both presidents are also expected to be joined by Jordan King Abdullah in Cairo, to hold trilateral talks on Gaza. In his comments, Macron also urged Russia to accept U.S. President Donald Trump's proposed ceasefire with Ukraine.
