The theatrical box office hasn’t boasted many successes yet this year, and just ahead of the summer movie season, we don’t have a lot of huge tentpole titles hitting theaters in April, either. That said, there are still some noteworthy films to keep an eye out for, from a wartime thriller and a Ryan Coogler horror flick to a a spy film, some animated fare, and a pair of video game adaptations.
We asked what you were most looking forward to, and there were a couple of surprises in the results! Read on to see the Most Anticipated Movies of April!

A Minecraft Movie
(2025)
Release Date: April 4, 2025
The wait is over as the Minecraft movie will be hitting theatres this April. The familiar faces of Steve, Dawn, and Henry will be portrayed by Jack Black, Danielle Brooks, and Sebastian Hansen alongside Jason Momoa, Jennifer Coolidge, and Emma Myers. The popular video game adaptation follows four regular folks who are suddenly transported to an alternate world, where they team up with an experienced builder named Steve to find their way back home. It was a bit of a surprise to see Minecraft rise to the top, but it managed to earn 21% of the vote.
No. 2
Sinners
(2025)
Release Date: April 18, 2025
Not far behind Minecraft in this month’s poll with 20% of the vote is the next collaboration between director Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan. Unlike their past efforts, Sinners is somewhat shrouded in mystery, as it tells the story of twin brothers (both played by Jordan) who return to their hometown and encounter an unspeakable supernatural evil.
No. 3
The Accountant 2
(2025)
Release Date: April 25, 2025
Next up, Gavin O’Connor brings back both Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal to turn The Accountant into a franchise. The first film came out in 2016, and while critics were divided on it, fans were much more kind, so here we are. Bernthal is set to have more screen time in the sequel, which sees his character team up with Affleck’s titular hero to solve a murder.
No. 4
Warfare
(2025)
Release Date: April 11, 2025
Coming in fourth with 12% of the vote is Warfare, a film co-directed by Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland that tells the story of American soldiers who must escape enemy territory while fighting in Iraq. Mendoza served as the military advisor on Garland’s last film, Civil War, and the two decided to work on a project based on Mendoza’s own experiences. Warfare features a star-studded cast, including Joseph Quinn, Kit Connor, Will Poulter, Cosmo Jarvis, and Noah Centineo, among others.
No. 5
Death of a Unicorn
(2025)
Release Date: March 28, 2025
Finally, with 7% of the vote, we have James Hawes’ spy thriller starring Rami Malek and Laurence Fishburne. Based on the 1981 novel of the same name, the film stars Malek as a CIA cryptopgrapher who goes rogue on a path of revenge after his wife is killed in a terrorist attack and he realizes his agency won’t do anything about it.
