Hyderabad: Cancer experts from Hyderabad in a seminar on ‘Reducing Cancer Mortality-The Role of Technology’ said that in the coming years, Artificial Intelligence (AI) will play a huge role in cancer diagnostics and treatment.
Drug repurposing isn’t new, but the use of machine learning has revolutionized it. AI is accelerating discovery and opening up possibilities for patients with rare diseases. Data science and AI together are powerful, experts in the seminar, organized by Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI), Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) and Swastava Cancer Care (SCC) in Hyderabad, said.

“Over 60 percent of cancers in TS are lifestyle-related, with 52,000 new cases in 2018 projected to rise to 65,000 by 2030. Sadly, 70 percent of cases are detected at stage 3 or 4. Only 30 to 35 percent aare cured, compared to 60 to 65 percent in the West,” Dr. Srinivasulu, Director, MNJ Cancer Hospital said.
Bhavesh Mishra, Deputy Secretary, Information Technology, Electronics, and Communications Department (IT&C), Dr. Urvashi Prasad, R.P. Singh, president, Swastava Cancer Care, Dr. Suresh Kumar Singhal, president, FTCCI, Dr. V. Chaturvedi, CEO, Swastava Cancer Care and others were present.
