Agra: Two police constables were suspended and a case has been registered against one of them on Saturday after a video of them firing celebratory shots at a wedding in Muzaffarnagar district surfaced on social media. Police said the incident took place a few days ago in the Ramraj police station area.
In the clip, Prashant Kumar, a constable posted at Ramraj police station, was seen firing a weapon while another constable, Gaurav Kumar, danced to DJ music. After the video surfaced online, the duo was immediately suspended, and a case was lodged against Prashant under section 125 (endangering security of others) of BNS and 25 (9) of the Arms Act. An investigation is underway, and action will be taken accordingly, the police said.
Ramraj SHO Sunil Kasana, who filed an official complaint, said, "This act could have caused harm to the public, and prima facie, the weapon with which the celebratory firing was done is his official firearm."
Jansath DSP Yatendra Nagar, said, "The SSP has suspended both constables. A case has also been registered against Prashant Kumar for his involvement in the celebratory firing. Further legal action will follow based on additional findings during the investigation."
