Aligarh man gets life in jail for raping minor

Agra: A special Pocso court in Aligarh sentenced a 25-year-old daily wage labourer to life imprisonment for raping a 7-year-old girl from his neighbourhood in 2021. The court also imposed a fine of ₹50,000 on Wednesday.
On Aug 1, 2021, around 9 pm, the girl had gone to a shop to buy biscuits when the accused approached her. He gave her money to buy tobacco, and after she returned, he offered to drop her home on his bicycle. Instead, he took her to a nearby forest and sexually assaulted her. "He threatened to harm her parents and siblings if she told anyone before fleeing," special public prosecutor (SPP), Pocso, Raghuvansh Sharma said.
When the child did not return home, her parents searched for her and later found her injured and distressed. "Police arrested the accused and a case was registered based on a complaint by the girl's mother under IPC sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation), and relevant sections of the Pocso Act," Sharma said.
The chargesheet was filed on Sept 30, 2021. The ₹50,000 fine will be allocated for the child's rehabilitation, mentioned the court order released on Thursday.
