How a video call became first clue in murder of former Karnataka DGP Om Prakash
BENGALURU: Om Prakash, the former Karnataka police chief, was stabbed to death by his wife at their residence in HSR Layout on Sunday.
During a confrontation, Pallavi attacked Prakash by throwing chili powder in his face. While the former police chief struggled with the burning sensation, Pallavi inflicted multiple knife wounds, resulting in his immediate death, according to sources.

Pallavi then made a video call to her friend and reportedly said, "I have killed the monster," sources claimed.
The homicide resulted from recurring conflicts between the husband and wife, according to sources.
Investigations revealed a property disagreement concerning a plot of land in Dandeli, Karnataka, which contributed to the incident.
Several months earlier, Pallavi had visited the HSR Layout police station to file a complaint.

Following the staff's refusal to assist, she conducted a 'Dharna' outside the police station, as per sources.
Reports indicate that Pallavi had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and was receiving medical treatment.
The victim suffered approximately 12 stab wounds, with one to the neck area, though official confirmation awaits the post-mortem report. Following the incident, Prakash was transported to St John's Hospital, where medical staff pronounced him dead upon arrival.
Based on Prakash's son's complaint, authorities have registered a murder case. A senior police official indicated they are investigating Pallavi's psychological state and will review her medical records, including consultations with any previous healthcare providers.
Served as DGP and IGP for 2 years, until retirement
Prakash, a 1981-batch IPS officer, served as Karnataka state's DGP and IGP from Feb 28, 2015, until he retired on March 31, 2017.
Prakash was from Bihar and began his career as an additional superintendent of police in Harapanahalli in then Ballari district.
He later served in various places, including SP Shivamogga, Uttara Kannada, and Chikkamagaluru. He also worked at Lokayukta and as DIG in the Fire and Emergency Services and Criminal Investigation Department.
