Gumla: After returning to his constituency from the two-day Congress Working Committee (CWC) session in Ahmedabad, Lohardaga MP Sukhdeo Bhagat said the party event focussed on BJP's divisive policies and ways to counter them.
Bhagat said while speaking at the CWC meeting, he drew parallels between Mahatma Gandhi's historic ‘Dandi March' from Sabarmati and Rahul Gandhi's ‘
Bharat Jodo Yatra', highlighting their shared goal of uniting Indians across religious and social divides.
The two-day session in Ahmedabad concluded Wednesday with an ideological resolution emphasizing the party's commitment to strengthen its organisation and combat "arrogant, unjust and oppressive forces". The party adopted the motto ‘Nyay Path: Sankalpa, Samarpan and Sangharsh (Road to Justice - Resolution, Dedication and Struggle)' during the session, he said.
The first-time MP, who has emerged as a prominent national voice for the party, accused the Modi government of deflecting attention from crucial issues. "When we demand jobs for the unemployed youth, they talk about RSS employment. When we raise concerns about food security, they shift to beef politics. When we discuss housing needs, they focus on bulldozer politics," Bhagat said.
Bhagat also emphasized Sonia Gandhi's dedication and Rahul Gandhi's struggle during the session.
Bhagat, DU alumni and tribal MP, criticized BJP's approach to governance approach, saying, "While Congress strives to protect constitutional values, the BJP government is undermining them with communal politics." He particularly targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's foreign policy, labelling him as "Surrendered Modi" and questioning his relationship with US president Donald Trump.
"Despite Modi's praise for Trump, the US continued to impose tariffs on India," Bhagat pointed out, highlighting what he termed as diplomatic failures.
