In a recent interview, author Medha Bhaskaran said that according to her, Vicky fit the bill for Sambhaji.
She said on Ranveer Allahbadia's podcast, "I liked Vicky Kaushal. Whenever I thought of Shambhu Raje, I thought Vicky would be good for his part because I watched his movie based on Jallianwala Bagh." Ranveer prompted her and said, "Sardar Uddham." She reacted, "Yes. I loved him in it." She added, "Shambhu Raje was tall, he looked like Shivrai but he was slightly one shade darker I think than Shivrai. Vicky Kaushal just fits the bill."

Loaded with intense goosebumps. Retell the fact that Mughals & British only reigned over us cuz some Indians betrayed the whole India."
Another user commented, “A very impactful movie, high on action and drama. The war scenes are depicted powerfully, the worries and the moves look very real. Good performances overall, but the movie rests on Vicky Kaushal’s able shoulders. Historical drama at its best. Go watch." The film is now streaming on Netflix.
