FEROZEPUR/FAZILKA: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Ferozepur district police have seized 8.163 kg of heroin in Mallanwala under Ferozepur district on Sunday.
According to information, in a significant blow to drug trafficking, Ferozepur police CASO operation, led by Gurpreet Singh, station house officer, Mallanwala intercepted a vehicle at Khosa Dal Singh Wala, resulting in the arrest of a drug smuggler, identified as Akash, a resident of Amritsar and recovered 8.163 kg of heroin in his car (PB-02-ET-3069).
A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused and further investigations are on. Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, SSP, Ferozepur, emphasised that intensified efforts will continue to target drug peddlers and criminal elements, promising stringent action to curb the menace in Ferozepur.
The campaign underscores Punjab Police’s commitment to eradicating the drug trade and ensuring public safety.
According to information, during the first three months of the current year, Ferozepur police have recovered 23.566 kg of heroin, arrested 203 individuals across 97 cases, and confiscated illegal weapons and drug money as part of Punjab Police’s ongoing “War against Drugs” initiative. Meanwhile, Fazilka police has seized a drug consignment from a school, which was dropped by a Pakistani drone last night.
Acting on a tip-off that a Pak drone had dropped a drug consignment in the area, a joint operation by Fazilka police and
Border Security Force was launched in Chak Bajida village during which a packet of heroin (535 gms) was recovered from senior secondary school of the village.
The packet was wrapped with a yellow radium tape to help the smugglers locate the same during the night hours. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered in Sadar Jalalabad police station.
