Man arrested for stabbing woman to death at local spa

Ludhiana: Police arrested a man after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death at a spa centre in Himmat Nagar, where she worked. The arrested accused was identified as Simranjit Singh, who reportedly belongs to Malerkotla.
As per reports, the deceased, identified as Akwinder Kaur of Bull village, Dehlon, was mother of two children. She had been living separately from her husband and was allegedly in a live-in relationship with the accused. She reportedly had been having disputes with him over the past year.
Sources said that the two had a heated exchange around two days ago. At around 3.30pm on Thursday, the accused, armed with a sharp-edged weapon, entered the spa where the woman worked and stabbed her in the neck. Sources said that a passer-by took the woman to a private hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Later, the police was informed.
A team from Dugri police station reached the spot and started a probe. The body has been kept in the civil hospital for postmortem.
SHO, Dugri police station, inspector Narpinder Singh, said that a murder case was filed against the accused, who was arrested immediately. He suggested that preliminary investigations indicate that the accused had been pressurising the woman to marry him, but she was not ready. Police have secured CCTV footage of the crime scene and are scanning the mobile phone of the accused, who is reportedly unmarried.
