Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Anil Vij staked his claim for the Chief Minister position ahead of the Haryana Assembly elections. In a statement to ANI, Vij highlighted his seniority, noting he is the longest-serving BJP MLA in Haryana, having contested six elections. He said he had never previously asked the party for anything but felt compelled to seek the CM designation this time due to public demand. However, he acknowledged that the final decision rests with the party’s high command. Vij, who is the BJP candidate from Ambala Cantt Assembly constituency, promised to transform Haryana if appointed.In other news, National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah criticized PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, accusing her of causing significant damage to Jammu and Kashmir. Abdullah blamed the PDP for facilitating the BJP's rise in the region and recalled the violent protests of 2016 following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani, which resulted in over 90 civilian deaths.
