India vs Australia, Border Gavaskar Trophy Highlights: Australia 67/7 at stumps, trail by 83 runs on 17-wicket day

Australia suffered a stunning batting collapse as they managed 67 for 7 at stumps in reply to India's 150 in the first innings on Day 1 of the first Test in Perth on Friday. India, who were all out for 150 from 49.4 overs at the stroke of tea, grabbed seven Australian wickets in 27 overs in the final session of the day.

Alex Carey (19 batting) and Mitchell Starc (6 batting) were at the crease at stumps, as Australia trail by 83 runs. Seventeen wickets fell on the day on a lively pitch at the Perth Stadium.

Australia's abject surrender could be seen from the fact that Carey was their highest scorer while Travis Head and debutant Nathan McSweeney made 11 and 10 respectively. All the other Australian batters could not reach double-digit figures.

For India, captain Jasprit Bumrah (4/17) was the pick of the bowlers while Mohammed Siraj (2/17) and debutant Harshit Rana (1/33) also chipped in.

Earlier, electing to bat, India lost six wickets in the second session to be all out for 150.

Debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy top-scored with 41 off 59 balls while Rishabh Pant chipped in with 37. Opene KL Rahul got out to a controversial caught behind decision just before lunch after scoring 26 off 74 balls.

For Australia, Josh Hazlewood (4/29), Mitchell Starc (2/14), Mitchell Marsh (2/12) and captain Pat Cummins (2/67) were the wicket-takers.

On the last ball of the day, Bumrah decides to roll his fingers over for a slower one. Mitchell Starc had no clue. Luckily for the Aussie, it didn't get the greatest of contacts and falls short of Bumrah. STUMPS!

India celebrate. Mitchell Marsh is unmoved. KL Rahul is convinced he's held on cleanly. Mohammed Siraj was making inroads already. It appears KL Rahul got his fingers underneath the ball as he leaped ahead of Virat Kohli in the slips region. Third umpire decides OUT!

Marnus looks to work it off the back foot but didn't seem to know where the ball went after hitting the tip of the bat. The ball runs to Pant who is quick to react and prevent some lucky runs

Harshit Rana had struggled against Travis Head in the previous over. This time he's kept the seam up, angled this away a touch and found the off stump. That is as good as first Test wickets go! And what a wicket that could prove to be.

It is pitching in line and going on to hit middle and leg. Bumrah asks teammates if they heard anything. The answer came that it was pad first. And it is out!

Loud appeal by Siraj for leg before on McSweeney and it has been turned down. Siraj is confident but others don't share his enthusiasm. Bounce probably helps McSweeney out here even though he's not offered a shot and has been struck on the pad

Usman Khawaja drops it! Sun in his eyes, he almost had his eyes closed and maybe even tried to get his hand in front of his face to cover his eyes. Nitish spliced it and that's a dolly dropped

Simply brilliant! Spectacular catch in the slip cordon by Australia. Harshit Rana plays away from his body, gets the edge and it flies to the slips. McSweeney gets left hand to it, it lobs up and Labuschagne, to his left, is alert and holds on with a dive. Lovely fielding!

Rishabh Pant survives! Pat Cummins has dropped this at mid-on! Not the easiest of opportunities as Pant skies it while trying to whip a shot off the pads off Starc. Cummins ran backward and tried to hold on after getting his hands to it. It just didn't hold on

Australia's appeal for a caught behind is turned down by the on-field umpire. They've got one right, one wrong. And this one goes into the wrong column. The snicko shows nothing as the ball passes Rishabh Pant's bat. Good length ball from Cummins, angled and passed the outside edge. Luckily for India, no bat involved
