Celebrity MasterChef: Judges refuse to taste Rajiv Adatia's potato accordion; Chef Ranveer lauds his never-give-up attitude

Celebrity MasterChef is now nearing its finale. In a recent episode, the celebrity cooks were given an interesting challenge to make the best potato accordion and add a touch of their spice mix to the dish. Nikki, who had won the previous challenge, got an advantage, and she was safe from making the potato dish.
Gaurav Khanna, Rajiv Adatia, Archana Gautam, Tejasswi Prakash and Faisal Shaikh performed the challenge. At first, Chef Ranveer demonstrated how the accordion is cut to perfection. He then set up a challenge that the accordion should have at least 25-28 cuts and should be of 7 inches when pulled.
Soon, all the celebrity cooks began to achieve their ideal potato accordions after multiple errors. Gaurav and Tejasswi, being the first ones to achieve it, impressed the judges. At the same time, Archana and Rajiv struggled initially. Archana still tried and got it right after a few attempts, while Rajiv's accordion kept falling apart. Chef Ranveer then asked the celebrity cooks to use chopsticks for help. Yet, Rajiv kept trying. He even ended up poking each layer to the stick, that is when Chef Ranveer came to the rescue.

Rajiv then made the perfect accordion which had immaculate precision, but the catch was that he made it at the 29th minute and had only one minute left to fry it and complete the dish. His accordion had set the new record of 43 cuts and that too so perfect that even Chef Vikas couldn't stop admiring. While others impressed the judges, Rajiv's accordion turned out uncooked. The judges came to his station and refused to taste his dish. Chef Ranveer said, 'Had you kept the oil for heating early, the potato would have gotten fried in time.' Chef Vikas added, 'You even made the spice mix in haste, which is quite visible in your dish.'
However, towards the end, Rajiv was quite disappointed with his dish, but Chef Ranveer cheered him up and lauded him for his never-give-up attitude and pushed him to do better in the next dish.

In the previous episode, Rajiv broke down in tears when his mother surprised him. She had specially come down to Mumbai and rushed to the set as soon as she landed from London. Both mom and son were in tears as they reunited. While sharing an emotional anecdote, Rajiv recalled when he received the devasting news of his father's demise. He said, “I was not home when he passed away. I was shooting in Dubai. I got a call from my mom saying he is sick. She was crying a lot. By the time I came home, he was no more. I have this fear… if something happens and I am not home.”
