Jemillah is a relatively new recruit to the ABC, starting in September 2022 after spending 10 years in print media.
Almost always a country girl, Jemillah grew up in East Gippsland in Victoria before moving to Geelong for university.
The lure of getting a journalism job before she finished her degree was too good to pass up, so Jemillah moved to Bunbury in 2012 for a cadetship at the Bunbury Mail.
Since then she also reported for the Busselton Dunsborough Mail, Augusta Margaret River Mail and became the editor for the Collie Mail and Esperance Express.
The importance of regional news and telling people what they need to know is what keeps Jemillah in the industry.
She also has a special love of sport and politics reporting.
With the dwindling viability of print, Jemillah moved to the ABC South West as editor of the local team.
