This was just what I needed. This book pulled me right in. I loved the atmosphere and setting on a tropical island. Throw in a murder and a few twists, and this one surely had me hooked. The ending was top-notch and the perfect curveball. If you love a good twist thriller, add this one to your TBR. Four stars. ✨
On a trip to the tropical paradise where her fiancée died, a young woman begins to suspect the death was no accident — and the killer’s still on the island.

I'm currently torn between giving it 4 or 5 stars, but I will round it down for now because I'm not a big fan of some of the themes explored. However, the writing is beautiful, and you will definitely feel a range of emotions while reading it. I highly recommend adding this to your TBR. This book is destined to become a classic.
Thank you, Simon & Schuster, for sending me the ARC.

I haven't encountered a mystery/thriller quite like this in some time, and it was a refreshing alternative to the other books I've been tackling recently. The fast pacing kept me hooked from start to finish. I found the main character and her story fascinating, and I appreciated the variety of plot twists and turns—each reveal added an exciting layer to the story, making it an overall enjoyable experience.
I figured out "whodunnit" before the big reveal, but I wouldn't deduct any stars for that. The journey towards the conclusion was well-crafted, and knowing the outcome didn't diminish my enjoyment of the buildup. The author's talent for creating suspense and intrigue shone through, making this a book I'd definitely recommend adding to your TBR. ...more

When I first received this book, I was very excited because the premise was right up my alley. The lore in this book was captivating. I loved the trials, the curse concept, the family dynamics, and, of course, the enemies-to-lovers theme. The romance is mild but still enchanting.
Unfortunately, I had a challenging time connecting with it at first. The story throws you in without much context, which can sometimes work, but in this case, it felt like I was jumping into a sequel (it is not one). However, I enjoyed it more once I became accustomed to the plot and the characters. I just never felt that "hooked" feeling.
I received this ARC early, so I hope a few more revisions are planned. I intend to reread it once it is published, but I would rate it around a 3.5 for now. It has a lot of potential, but there was simply too much going on. I would still recommend this one to anyone who enjoys fantasy/witch stories with romantic elements.

I usually enjoy anything publishedThank you to Wednesday Books | St. Martin’s Press for providing this ARC. The publication date is February 25, 2025.
I usually enjoy anything published by Wednesday Books, but this story fell a bit flat for me. As a huge fan of Snow White, I was disappointed by this retelling. I’m not sure if it was the author’s writing style or the overall plot and characters, but I struggled to get through it.
On the positive side, I appreciated the overarching theme of learning to trust your own heart. I also enjoyed reading from the 'mirror's perspective'; I thought that was a nice touch. Additionally, the cover is stunning.
Overall, I found it mediocre. I neither loved it nor hated it. I would say read the summary and if it seems like something up your alley, give it a shot! If all else fails, it would be a beautiful addition to your home library!!
